I posted this before and got three responses I have since found that I have a voltage drop under the faring. I set the fast and slow idle according to the man. Still have the problem but not as bad. I have 12-13 volts at the battery(not running)and 1-2 volts less under the faring. This is also with headlamp on. When bike is running voltage goes up (of course) but is still less at all points under the faring by 1-1 1/2 volts. I have also had the bike running and ran a hot wire from the battery to the switched hot wire on the radio. This solves the problem but of course creates another one. I believe my weak point may be the ignition switch. What do you guys think???

I have an 05` and don`t have a problem like that. The only voltage problems I`ve ever had were caused by skinned wires shorting out intermittently. What made youi think you have a problem - what did you see or hear?

The problem was the radio drops out, like I explained.

There is a good chance. You may want to check with the dealer and see if this was ever performed on your bike:

I believe my dad had his replaced twice before the modified the switch somehow on his 95 Ultra. This may be your voltage drop issue.

The brake uses a relay under the fairing in those years. if the relay was bad or not grounded corectly it would sometimes cause the lights or radio to fade out. it has been awhile since I have worked on one of those so forgive me for not remembering all the details. But I do remember there being a problem.
