I spent 4-1/2 hours inon my stand this morning in the rain, and never saw anything but squirrels. I got off my stand and rode my ATV to the other side of the property and jumped 3 deer, but the cleared out so fast I did not get a shot.
Can`t hunt here on Sun. so monday morning I will try them again.

I have some friends who hunt, I always cut the deer for them, got a call from one of them he dropped two today here in connecticut. on a good year 4 or 5 guys get 12-15, but they hunt all the weapons, bow , riffle, black powder. or what ever else there is . I dont hunt just cut.

They have been eluding me too VT. I have been in the stand 5 times and no luck yet. I passed on a young buck a couple weeks ago, and since then, I have not even seen one from my stand.

RK1550,
Are they killing 12-15 between all of them or are each of them killing 12-15 a piece? I killed 8 last year myself in a month during muzzle loader and regular rifle season. I got tired of skinning and cutting up the meat after I did all of them up.
And Double, I wish you luck my friend, I saw some sign not far from the stand I was hunting yesterday, scrapes and rubs within 50 to 100 yds. so they are there. You hang in there your luck will change, I just hope you did not give up your luck passing on that small buck. But if you shoot all of the little ones, they never grow up to be big ones that you can hang on the wall.

thats between all of them. 2 guys get most of them the others are good for about 1 each. and one of the guys just shoots at the larger ones, lets a lot of the smaller one pass thru, he`ll drop one so he has fresh meat in te freezer then just looks for the big racks.

I will probably not shoot as many this year, let the little ones go , I usually do not kill alot of does. I may only do about 3 or 4 this year, because it is alot of work doing the deer up like I do and canning them. I usually get sick of doing it especially the deboning and cutting out the fat and sinew and chunking the meat up for canning.
You cut up all of the deer these guys kill? you probably get sick of it too unless you are a profesional butcher.

yes , I`m a meat cutter by trade. But I only do them cause their friends I grew up with it helps keep us in touch. It`s fun for me (at least the first couple), drink their beer, eat their deer ( we always cook some when I`m cutting) bust their balls for shooting the small ones, and then take their money. ( I don`t charge much but after cutting all day then going to do more work a little extra cash is good) If they only got 1 or 2 I`d do them for free for them. I also tell them not to tell any body I do them or I wont do theirs any more.... LOL I cut a lot of it thin for them to make jerky out of it, so as a bonus I always get a bag of jerky after I do the first couple and they get to make the jerky.

I got my first deer of the season today, it was a 7 point buck. Shot it with the muzzleloader, a one shot kill, about 120 yards, deer only went 25 yards.. He is cut up in the cooler with ice and salt.

You beat me to it VT! Congrats! It`ll be a couple weeks before I can get back up to NC. I don`t have any private land I currently have permission to hunt locally.
